On this page of our website we are supplying some links to Ytong videos on youtube. These videos will give you, our prospective customers, some insight of how constructing houses with Ytong is achieved. Not all statements is these videos are applicable to Eco Stein Ltd. For example the installation instructions for lintels are not always the same. As EcoStein Ltd. imports Ytong from Germany, Holland and Belgium, the instructions on lintels can be contradictory. We, Eco Stein Ltd. will of course instruct our customers accordingly.

Ytong products, though only new to the Irish building industry, have a long history in continental Europe. For more than 70 years home builders have used these highly versatile blocks to construct their houses.
Autoclaved Aerated Concrete and its production process was already patented in 1924 by the Swedish Architect, A. Eriksson. Development of this product came about after the First World War, due to the need for a building product that could cheaply and easily be manufactured in large quantities with consistent properties, one of which had to be the high thermal insulation value that today is still unequalled in a solid block.
Over the years, the manufacturing process has been refined and advanced, making it possible to offer a wide variety of products. Every building element needed, such as walls, floors, lintels, ceilings and roof panels, in the construction of a house, can now be produced from AAC, making it possible to build a house complete from Ytong. And because the high insulation values are inherent to all Ytong products, the occurrence of heat bridges is kept to a minimum.
The light weight of Ytong makes it possible to produce large elements that are easy to handle, making the building process more cost effective by reducing building time. Since Ytong is an aerated concrete product, having a weight of only 1/5 to a 1/4 of that of ordinary concrete, it also uses only that amount of aggregates to produce it, reducing the pressure on our environment.
Energy consumption to produce Ytong is also only a fraction of that needed to produce other building materials, benefitting the environment still further by reducing CO2 emissions in the production process of this versatile building material.
